Øystein Lyngroth is the current Special Envoy for Freedom of Religion or Belief and the Head of the delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, in the Section for Human Rights, Democracy and Gender Equality, in the Ministry of Foreign of Norway. As a career diplomat for almost twenty years, he has served in several posts, including at the Norwegian Embassy in Dhaka, Bangladesh, as well as at the Permanent Missions of Norway to the United Nations in New York. Øystein Lyngroth obtained a master's degrees in History of Religions from the University of Oslo in 1996.
