Sharon Rosen
Sharon Rosen is the former global Director of Religious Engagement (2017-2024) at Search for Common Ground (Search), the world's largest non-governmental organization dedicated to peacebuilding. A veteran facilitator in interreligious programming and advancing freedom of thought, conscience and belief, Sharon provided strategic oversight, quality control and technical expertise to Search field offices in over 20 countries while also leading the creation and development of various Common Ground Approach to Religious Engagement toolkits.
Sharon co-created the Universal Code of Conduct on Holy Sites for the protection of sacred spaces and oversaw its implementation in diverse countries such as Nigeria, Israel and Bosnia Herzegovina. From 2016-2024, she directed a Jewish-Muslim religious leaders' initiative in Israel to build trust and expand peace which included the implementation of curricula in Jewish and Muslim schools and sessions for hundreds of groups. Previously, Sharon was co-director of Search's Jerusalem office for nine years together with a Palestinian colleague, directing multiple initiatives relating to religion, leadership development, health and media as well as a faculty member at the Jerusalem Center for Near East Studies.
Born in the UK, Sharon has lived in Jerusalem for over 40 years. Married to a leading Orthodox rabbi, she previously served Jewish communities in South Africa and Ireland. She holds undergraduate and post-graduate degrees from Hebrew University, Jerusalem, as well as facilitation certificates in communication and other life skills. Publications include Bridging the Divides; Interreligious Diplomacy for Effective Peacebuilding (Crosscurrents, September 2022) and My Jerusalem – Our Jerusalem in What Jerusalem Means to Us, (Jerusalem Peace Institute, 2023).
