Susan Kerr

Dr. Susan Kerr has over 20 years of experience in European public affairs, including more than a decade dedicated to advancing human rights across the OSCE region and beyond. She is currently the Head of the Human Rights Department at the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, where she previously held the role of Senior Adviser on Freedom of Religion or Belief. Before joining ODIHR, amongst others, she was the Team Leader for the Europe Office of CSW (an NGO specialised in freedom of religion or belief), worked in the European Parliament, and engaged in consultancy and guest lecturing. Susan also served in a voluntary capacity on the Board of Coordinators of the European Platform against Religious Intolerance and Discrimination (EPRID). Susan is a member of the OSCE Dialogue Practitioners’ Platform, and, amongst others, led work at ODIHR to develop the Belief, dialogue and security guide, on how states can foster dialogue to advance freedom of religion or belief, as well as Belief in Change to encourage dialogue and engagement of religious actors to combat violence against women and girls. Susan has also overseen the creation of FoRB videos on common misunderstandings surrounding FoRB, work on capacity-building materials on FoRB and security, as well as ODIHR materials on Employment and women’s FoRB, and on freedom of thought and AI: Think again. Susan holds two MA degrees, an MBA, and a PhD on the corporate social responsibility of the oil industry in Latin America.
